DM Youth & Mini Theatre

Class Information

Learn to sing, dance and act at DM Youth Theatre.  Your child will learn all that is needed for the wonderful world of Performing Arts. We have created this program so that your child will learn through a proven system how to increase their confidence and express their creativity while being supported in a safe environment by our experienced teachers in singing, dancing and acting.

Students learn a range of singing styles, vocal techniques and improve their range in our singing lessons.  In dance they will learn a range of different musical theatre styles as well as improving their technique and flexibility. In drama children learn the fundamentals of projection, performance and improvisation.

Private lessons are available if you think your child would benefit from one-to-one tuition to sharpen their singing/dancing/acting technique. 

Performance Opportunities

DM Youth Theatre puts on a big musical production at a theatre in the spring or summer term each year,  with rehearsals starting in January.  All students will get the chance to perform on stage, and over 8s will get to audition for a main part in the show. Past productions have included Shrek Jr and Matilda Jr

There are also informal end of term showcases that take place at the studios, for family and friends to watch. 

Examinations

Your child will have the opportunity to be put through exams for the IDTA Musical Theatre syllabus. As your child progresses above Grade 6 onwards, these examinations can go towards their UCAS points for further education.  Options for children with SEND needs are available to discuss with the teacher. 

What to Wear?

Please wear black trousers/leggings and trainers or jazz shoes.  A DM Youth Theatre t-shirt* or DM Dance logo t-shirt. *one t-shirt will be provided upon sign up.
