Heike, aka “Akasha” has been studying various forms of Bellydance for over 20 years; she is an enthusiastic teacher and performer and her aim is, and always has been, not only to promote the physical and mental health benefits of this dance style, but also to create a community, which is why she has been involved in arranging many events. Having been involved in the Goth scene all her life, she was, and still is, one of the driving forces been GothlaUK, the UK’s premier Gothic Bellydance Festival – www.gothla.co.uk

Heike has “BlackSheep BellyDance” satellite studio status, which means she is Level 1&2 certified in the BlackSheep BellyDance format, created by her “Tribal Mother”, Kajira Djoumahna, and a fully-fledged member of this international tribe. Heike was also a regular at one of the biggest Tribal Festivals in Sebastopol, USA, which was organised by Kajira. www.blacksheepbellydance.com. Heike also worked closely with students from Portsmouth University to create a practice companion to Kajira Djoumahna’s Level 1 BlackSheep BellyDance Format – www.akashatribal.co.uk/theapp

Heike is also a qualified JWAAD teacher (Josephine Wise Academy of Arabic Dance – www.jwaad.com) and one of Keti Sharif’s Original and Advanced A-Z, “Pulse 8” instructors as well as an assessor for A-Z (original syllabus) www.ketisharif.com. She is also Jamila Salimpour Level 1 qualified.

Heike’s motto is: “Die of exhaustion, not boredom”……Heike has a full-time job as Project Controller; getting information out of Project Managers is a bit like herding cats…..she holds a post grad degree in Project Control and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Heike is a polyglot; her latest “obsession” is learning Italian. She also like crafting – both with fibres and the witchy sense, reading and traveling!!
